A solid start to the educational journey

Town & Country Foundation supports steps for children foundation

In February 2024, we received four-figure prize money as part of the 11th Town & Country Foundation Foundation Prize. The amount will be in early childhood and preschool education invested: fine motor, cognitive and linguistic skills are specifically promoted – as a solid foundation for further educational journeys.

The Town & Country Foundation promotes working with children and young people. At the same time, it recognizes the people who are involved in the projects - many of them on a voluntary basis.

The steps for children foundation operates eight facilities in Namibia for more than 2.000 children and young people who are taught, fed and supported every day. The foundation is with social and income generating measures located where it is needed most: in the informal settlements, where people from the poorest backgrounds have to live in makeshift housing. Here it opens up prospects for a better future. This also means that the foundation's social activities should become more independent in the long term through its own micro-enterprises, such as the sewing workshop or the guest houses, through surpluses generated from donations.

“On behalf of the children in Namibia and the entire steps team, we would like to thank you very much for this award! A special appreciation of our work, which shows that we are on the right path and that we must work together to achieve fairer educational opportunities and future prospects.”

Dr. Michael Hoppe, Chairman of the board of the steps for children foundation.

Representing the foundation and its Ambassadors Dr. Arne Einhausen handed over Marcus Brunner from the Dr. Arne Einhausen GmbH & Co.KG presented the certificate and praised the commitment of the full-time and volunteer workers:

“They put so much heart and soul into helping the weakest of the weak, for the children in some of the poorest regions of the world - who have it much harder than we here in Germany can even imagine: Honoring this literally groundbreaking effort and We are happy to support you with the Town & Country Foundation Prize!”

About the Town & Country Foundation Prize

Since 2013, the Town & Country Foundation Prize has been promoting social commitment for socially, mentally and physically disadvantaged children and young people throughout Germany. This year's 11th Foundation Prize is dedicated to togetherness and is a funding focus “WITH – feel, talk, create.” The focus is on projects that promote communication, empathy and community or train mindfulness. Support is given to educational institutions, clubs and others that promote equal opportunities regardless of origin, gender, social or religious background - and thus open up better prospects for young people.

The 11th Foundation Prize will be awarded on a staggered basis: in the first round, 300 non-profit institutions and projects will be funded with 1.111 euros each. In the second step, an independent jury selects a particularly worthy project in each federal state from these 300 award winners. These 16 state award winners will be announced, honored and awarded an additional 21 euros each at a celebratory gala on June 2024, 5.000 in Erfurt.

About the Town & Country Foundation

The Town & Country Foundation, based in Erfurt, was founded in 2009 by Gabriele and Jürgen Dawo to help builders and their families who were in need through no fault of their own. The foundation's purpose was soon expanded to include supporting disadvantaged children and young people. The work of the Town & Country Foundation is made possible by the Town & Country franchise system and other supporters as well as free donations.
